Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Impostor (the "Game"), a free browser party game published by Filabs ("we", "us"). By playing — as a guest or with an account — you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Game.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Game. By playing, you confirm that you meet the age requirement and have the legal capacity to accept these Terms in your country of residence.

2. What the Game is

Impostor is a free, browser-based social party game. Players join a shared room, receive a secret word, and try to identify the impostor who does not know it. You can play instantly as a guest by choosing a display name, or create an optional account with an email magic link or "Sign in with Google". The Game is free and supported by advertising; there is no paid product.

3. Guests and accounts

• You can play as a guest without an account. Your guest display name and a temporary identifier exist only for the game room.
• If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping access to your email secure, and you must not let someone else sign in as you.
• Notify us promptly at contact@filabs.fr if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
• We may suspend or terminate an account or block access that violates these Terms or applicable law.

4. Acceptable use

Impostor is meant to be fun for everyone in the room. You agree not to:

• Choose a display name, or send in-game text, that is harassing, hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit, violent, or that impersonates another real person.
• Bully, threaten, or abuse other players.
• Post content that is illegal, infringing, or that reveals another person's private information without their consent.
• Cheat, use bots, scripts, or automation, or otherwise interfere with fair play.
• Probe, reverse-engineer, overload, or disrupt the Game, its servers, or its APIs.
• Use the Game for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable law.

We may remove content, end a game, or suspend or block access without prior notice when necessary to protect players or comply with the law.

5. Your content

You are responsible for the display names and text you enter in the Game. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content to other players in your room and to operate the Game. We do not sell your content or use it to train models. This licence ends when the content is removed, which for guest play happens when the room ends.

6. Advertising

The Game is free because it is supported by advertising. Advertising that relies on cookies or similar identifiers is shown only after you consent through our consent banner, and you can change your choice at any time. See the Cookie Policy and Privacy Policy.

7. Intellectual property

The Game, including its software, interface, design, and branding, is owned by Filabs or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. These Terms grant you no rights in it beyond using the Game as permitted here.

8. Disclaimers

The Game is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties not expressly granted here, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Game will be uninterrupted or error-free, and rooms may close or reset.

9. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Game. Because the Game is provided free of charge, our total liability for any claim is limited to one hundred euros. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law (for example, liability for gross negligence or wilful misconduct).

10. Term and termination

These Terms apply for as long as you use the Game. You may stop at any time and, if you have an account, delete it as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Game. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, governing law) survive.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by French law, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute is submitted to the competent French courts, except where mandatory consumer-protection law lets you sue in your country of residence.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when the Game, our practices, or applicable law changes. Material changes are notified to account holders by email. Continuing to play after the effective date means you accept the new version.
