A Fake Artist Goes to New York is a modern party classic because of one clean idea: everyone draws part of the same picture, but one player — the fake artist — was never told what it is. Watching the fake stall, hedge, and try to blend a stroke into a drawing they cannot see is the whole joy of it.

Impostor keeps the psychology — one faker, sweating to blend in — and removes the one barrier to playing it online: the drawing.

Instead of a shared canvas, Impostor uses a shared word:

• Everyone gets the secret word except one hidden impostor — the "fake artist" of the round.
• A clue replaces a brushstroke: each player says one word that shows they are in on it.
• The table votes on who was faking.

Because there is nothing to draw and nothing to install, it works over a video call as easily as around a table — create a room and share the link.
