What the Chameleon game is

The Chameleon is a modern classic: everyone knows a secret word, one sneaky player does not, and each person drops a short clue to prove they belong — while the "chameleon" tries to blend in and guess the word from what they hear. The fun is in that razor-thin line between a clue that is too vague (and gives you away) and one that is too obvious (and hands the answer to the faker).

Impostor is built around exactly that tension, and you can play it in your browser for free.

Instead of a physical card grid, Impostor deals the secret word to everyone's screen privately:

• The crew all see the same word.
• The impostor — the chameleon in this version — sees only that they are the odd one out.
• Each player gives one word as a clue, in turn, then the table debates and votes.

The host can even load a custom word list, so you can theme a whole session around your group.

How a round plays

Reveal your role privately, give your one-word clue when it is your turn, then discuss whose clue felt like a bluff. Everyone votes together and the odd one out is revealed.
